Contact UsJoin Shakti Youth!
In 2010, a group of enthusiastic 20 and 30-something year olds came together to volunteer and set up a conference for young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds. This conference, held in Waitakere, attracted 40 young participants from diverse ethnicities to stand up, speak out and strategise about youth needs in Aotearoa from their own cultural perspectives. This group of individuals now form the steering group of Shakti Youth Committee. They contribute as advocates in their networks and an advisory group to our Youth Services by sharing knowledge, information and volunteer help on improving our services to young people in New Zealand. |
